Mushroom shop and snack bar launched in Ajodhya Hills
India's first mushroom themed shop was opened in Ajodhya Hills, Purulia. In December 2023, a mushroom themed shop and snack bar was inaugurated at Palash Blossom Estate in Ajodhya Hilltop.
The event was attended by Baghmundi Block BDO Arya Ta, Baghmundi Police Station In-charge Rajat Chowdhury, Ajodhya Forest Department Range Officer Manoj Majumdar, Purulia Deputy Director of Horticulture Krishnendu Nandan, Baghmundi Panchayat Samiti President Mallika Chakrabarty, Arsha Panchayat Samiti President Biswarup Majhi, Palash Blossom Estate proprietor Sujan Kumar Pandit, Arsha And Baghmundi Horticulture Officer Sachinandan Majhi, eminent philanthropist of Ajodhya Hills Akhil Singh Sardar, and others.
It was confirmed that mushroom cultivation has been operational here for a long time. Mushroom experts have trained women and men in mushroom production by going to local horticulture events or agricultural training camps. In addition to cultivation, the new endeavour of a mushroom themed shop and snack bar has now kicked off. From this shop you will get a variety of delicious food including pickles, snacks, samosas, chops, pakoras, and more.
Sujan Kumar Pandit, proprietor of Palash Blossom Estate, said, "We have the cooperation of local horticulture organisation in this cultivation. We are hoping for a good turnover from this mushroom cultivation. Tourists visiting the hills also have a demand for mushrooms." Therefore, he is hopeful that the requirement will be satisfied this time. Mushroom products and snacks will be sold at Palash Blossom Shop at reasonable prices. Besides, if mushrooms can be delivered to different regions, financial improvement can also be achieved.
Prominent philanthropist of the Hills, Akhil Singh Sardar said that tourists have a great demand for mushrooms. At now, various types of mushrooms and mushroom products will be available right there at Ajodhya Hills. It is believed that if the resident boys, girls, and local self-reliant women groups get work, people's livelihood will improve.
